This Long Sampler board includes eighteen styles was originally painted in 2004 using JoSonja acrylics. The board measures 11 ½” x 44” x 13/16”.
I painted this in 2004 after a request for a very old one I had hanging in my kitchen. I didn’t want to sell it, so I said I would redesign a new one. That’s how this project came into being. I redesigned the wood and included more styles. It’s a lot of painting, but a worthwhile conversation piece and sample of all styles of rosemaling. If you don’t want to paint the entire project the individual designs can be used on other surfaces.
The 22 pages include some history for each of the styles as well as the basic directions and line drawings. Use “Rosemaling Styles and Study and Design” by Gayle (now out of print, but available digitally) for additional help, information, and worksheets.
